From 2002 to February 2024, Professor in the Department of Political Science at Kharkiv National Karazin University, Ukraine. Research interests span political and social institutions and processes, mass media and politics, higher education, methods of teaching political science, political culture, globalisation, political forecasting, transformations in the Middle East, and ethno-political relations, among others. As a visiting professor at the University of Leeds, Professor Pivneva is exploring the interaction between media and political communication in the context of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Professor Pivneva has published over 115 works, including four monographs, two textbooks, and six publications in English. She has participated in fellowship programmes in the United States (two Fulbright Scholar awards for lecturing and research and the University of Michigan programme), Canada (Democratic Education Programme), and in Hungary at Central European University. Professor Pivneva has also presented research at international scientific conferences in the United Kingdom, Poland, France, and Portugal.
